Artist StatementÂ
I am a Lao American graffiti artist and painter in a spiritual search for identity and transformation.
This piece was completed very recently. I am converging abstract expressionism, graffiti and portraiture to express and communicate my emotional struggle towards self liberation and identity. Using the power of creativity to transcend pain and violence to arrive at empowerment and healing. I am planning to produce a body of work to show in 2023 and this is the first completed piece.
The portrait is of a friend of mine, JUS10H (Justin Haynes), international fashion designer in celebration of his birthday. It was fitting for me to open up and free these emotions, to be open, vulnerable, hoping for healing from the painful sins committed my father. It is a rebirth for me, digging internally to find my voice to inspire others through the process of painting.
