Walter Crump, WOMEN'S MARCH, 2020, Inkjet pigment print, 20" x 15"

Dedicated to Elizabeth Warren

"In my photography, I am attracted to happenstance, to integrating ‘controlled accidents’ within my work. Within that category I’m working on a new series I call two-dimensional movies, that is, creating two dimensional images that imply the passage of time. The Women’s March is such an image. While in San Francisco, this January, my wife and I participated in the women’s march which I photographed extensively. With this photograph of overlaid images captured during the march, I wanted to convey an empowered community of united women confirming their strength and comaraderie. I would hope that this image is a metaphor for the fusing of women of different ages, sexual persuasions, and social strata as a powerful, diverse and positive cohesive movement that with each passing year gains deepening respect, recognition and power."
