In Partnership with Cambridge College, 2021
I captured these images of Bo Dollis Jr & The Wild Magnolias at Tipitina’s in New Orleans. This was the first live music show I have attended since the beginning of the pandemic. Everyone masked, socially distanced, and the festival was held outdoors. Bo Dollis Jr. & the Wild Magnolias have a special place in the soul of the New Orleans music scene. Bo is a Big Chief of the Wild Magnolia Tribe. He is a well-respected performer and a cultural icon. My photo series highlights Bo performing and showcases his unique style. Several of my images show him performing with the band, as well as with the Indians who were dressed in tribal regalia. My intent was to show how this performance made an impact on those who attended. I hoped to capture the spirit of live music, and the culture of the iconic Indians as it relates to bringing joy, peace, and unity to the New Orleans music scene and everyone impacted by the pandemic.
