Mary Harvey, A WOMAN OF HER TIMES, Oil on canvas, 2019
"A Woman of Her Times is depicted, first, as a younger woman in 1920—the year when the 19th Amendment was passed, an Amendment that her Ohio suffragist mother and grandmother had both strived to see passed in her and in their lifetimes…and then, in the year 2000 (at 95 years of age).  She died in 2006 (at nearly 101!) and, in honor of her forbears, never ever failed to vote once her right to do so was granted.  She is my mother and she passed her passion for social justice on to me.
