Artist Statement
These totems were made in recognition of the generosity and courage of women who, throughout human history, have made good trouble. The exhibit space would be a forest of totems if I could have recognized the well- known. To celebrate the lesser known, totems would fill the parking lot, spill into the connecting roads and highways, across cities, towns, fields and forests cross borders and empty into every country. Alas I have constructed only 3 totems. They honor the trouble caused by a precious few in areas where women’s force is felt.
